How to get the most out of your makeup appointment.

Prep your skin:

Taking care of your skin ahead of your appointment has so many benefits. The better shape your skin is in, the nicer products like concealer and foundation will blend, and you'll end up with a more natural finish.

-Exfoliate- This will remove any dry/dead skin that can make your foundation look cakey and uneven.

-Masque- This step will help balance your skin. Choose a masque that suits your skin type.

-Moisturize- This isn't just for dry skin, oily skin needs moisture too. For dry skin, you'll want to use a moisturizer that's on the thicker side. For oily skin, look for lighter formulas like gels.

Bring a reference photo:

A lot can get lost in translation when you're talking to a makeup artist. For example, my idea of a soft, natural look is not necessarily going to be the same as yours. Having a reference photo really helps you and your artist stay on the same page.

Be on time:

This might seem obvious, but I can't tell you how many times I've had someone cut their appointment in half by not being ready to start when I arrive. Being ready also includes having washed your face before your start time, great makeup starts with clean skin!
