Dry Skin Remedies
My dearest Djalna commented on my last blog post about oily skin that she’s been having some skin woes of her own, but they’re of the dry skin variety. Now sadly, not having that problem myself, I don’t have a whole lot of hands-on advice to give her. For years I’ve heard that oily skin is supposedly a blessing because later when I'm old, all those oils will make my skin less wrinkled than the drier, porcelain skin of my white girlfriends. But I also think that's crap because by the time I'm old enough to have wrinkles I'll be dead from a coke overdose anyway, and technology will be such that my white friends can buy brand new faces.
Anyway, be that as it may, there is one product that I swear by and can recommend to my dry-skinned sistas:
Josie Maran Organic Argan Oil, $48.00
If I ever had a company of all women, my annual holiday gift to them would be a bottle of Josie Maran Argan Oil and a 3 pack of Hanky Panky stretchy lace underwear. No other two products work so well for so many women. Josie Maran’s argan oil is one of those miracle beauty products that when you put it on your face, it addresses every problem (acne, acne scars, dry skin, oily skin, wrinkles) and just makes your skin supple with a terrific subtle glow.
Another thing you may want to try is a Biotin supplement. I take these every day because they're basically candy AND they keep things pretty:
Nature's Bounty 'Hair , Skin, & Nails' gummies, $8.99
Last but not least, when I was living in New Jersey I would not have survived the soul-crushing winter months without my humidifier. It’s great for your skin and even better for your respiratory system (notice how I mention the skin thing first though? Priorities.) I bought this one because it was cute and pink and had great reviews on Amazon:
Crane Drop Shape Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier, $30.00
